What Drunken Duel is

Drunken Duel is a two-sided shootout game in a Wild West setting, built in Construct by hihoygames and distributed through GamePix. Two tipsy ragdoll gunslingers, one blue and one orange, face off and try to shoot each other. The catch is that neither of them can stand still: their floppy bodies sway and topple according to the game's physics, so lining up a shot means working with the wobble rather than against it.

How to play

Each duelist is controlled with a single button. You press it to shoot, and GamePix describes the control as physics-based, so the result of each press is tied to how the ragdoll is moving at that moment. The game runs in a landscape screen and is listed by GamePix as working on both desktop computers and mobile devices; the build supports keyboard, mouse and touch input.

One or two players

• One player: you take one side and the computer controls the other duelist.
• Two Player Mode: two people share the same device, one controlling blue and the other orange.

Rounds and scoring

A duel is split into rounds, with a round number shown on screen and a "Fight" prompt. A running score is kept for both sides, and the menu has a Reset Score button if you want to start the tally from zero. At the end the game announces "Blue wins" or "Orange wins", and there is also a "Flawless Victory" banner in each side's colour.

Tips from the developer's description

• Pressing the button at random can sometimes land a lucky hit, but it is just as likely to lose you the duel.
• After a few games you start to read how the ragdolls move, and that is when deliberate, well-timed shots become possible.
• Watch the swing of your own gunslinger before you press; the timing of the press is the only thing you control.

Sound and visual effects play a big part in the slapstick feel, and the menu includes a sound toggle if you would rather play quietly.
